Previous positions include responsibilities in Health Administration and Health Management. His experience includes the coordination of programs and courses, and participation in research projects and advisory to public entities, and the participation in academic juries and evaluation panels. His work has been published in the format of books, chapters, and peer-reviewed articles.

Since September 2022, she holds the position of Invited Full Professor at the European University, where she serves as the Coordinator of Training in the Area of Health Sciences. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor with Aggregation at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon until August 2022, after which she took unpaid leave until 2025. During her tenure, she performed various roles, including being the coordinator of the Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance Educational program, an assistant in Public Health, and a co-coordinator of the Master in Regulation and Evaluation of Medicines and Health Products. Moreover, she was a member of the Coordination Council of IMED UL (Institute of Medicines Research of Lisbon University), and she supervised dozens of theses and research projects in the field of Pharmacoepidemiology, focusing on Methodological approaches for Benefit-Risk evaluation of Pharmaceuticals-Safety and Effectiveness. She also served as the coordinator of several PhD courses, such as “Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology research in Drug Life Cycle” and “Effectiveness and comparative effectiveness research in Drug Life Cycle.” Her scholarly contributions include more than 50 scientific articles published in International Scientific Journals and book chapters.
Furthermore, she actively participated in various administrative roles. She served as a Member of the School Council between 2018 and 2020. From October 2020 to September 2021, she held the position of sub-Director of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon and was part of the Management Council. Prior to that, she was the Coordinator of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of Lisbon, Setúbal, and Santarém from 2015 to 2021. Moreover, she held the prestigious position of President of the Institute of Evidence-Based Health (ISBE) from 2019 to 2021. The ISBE is a private non-profit association dedicated to producing high-quality evidence to support decision-making in health policies, founded in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, Patients’ Associations, APIFARMA, National Association of Pharmacies, and the Portuguese Association for Private Hospitalization. Her previous roles also include Director of the Pharmacy Department of the National Association of Pharmacies, where she served from October 1, 1994, to August 30, 2006. Additionally, she was the Director of CEFAR (Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Outcomes Research), whose creation she coordinated in 2004.
Between July 2014 and October 2015, she was responsible for external relations at the National Association of Pharmacies, where she played a key role in mediating negotiations between Pharmacies and the Government for the implementation of paid pharmaceutical services within the scope of the NHS service portfolio. Notably, she held the prestigious position of President of the Order of Pharmacists from February 2016 to February 2022. In this capacity, she assumed the representation of the institution, managed human resources, and handled financial and patrimonial matters of the OF, with delegations in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra. As President, she chaired the Management Council of the Order, alongside the 3 Presidents of the Regional Sections. Previously, she served as the Secretary General of the Order of Pharmacists from 1989 to 1992, with executive responsibility for the internal management of the Order, as well as coordination and alignment of technical and professional services in the 3 Delegations at the national level and Representation in the Autonomous Regions.

Among his other notable previous roles, he served as the coordinator for hospital care at the Technical Support Group for the Implementation of Health Policies of the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, he was the director of the Internal Medicine and Emergency Services at the São Francisco Xavier Hospital. He also held the position of president of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine (SPMI) and the National Council for Quality in Health. Moreover, he has served as the national coordinator of the Electronic Health Record and the Autoimmunity Study Group of SPMI.
